Microneedling: What It Is, Benefits & Aftercare

Microneedling is one of our favourite skin-refresh treatments for improving texture, tone and overall glow. Here’s what it is, what it helps with, and how to look after your skin afterwards for the best results.
What is microneedling?
Microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) uses a device with very fine needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin. This encourages your skin’s natural repair response and supports collagen and elastin production.
What can microneedling help with?
Microneedling can be a great option if you’re looking to improve:
Fine lines and early signs of ageing
Acne scarring and uneven texture
Enlarged pores
Dullness and uneven skin tone
Pigmentation (where suitable)
What to expect during your appointment
Your skin is cleansed, then a topical numbing cream may be applied. The treatment itself typically feels like a light scratching sensation. Afterwards, your skin may look pink or flushed—similar to mild sunburn.
Microneedling aftercare (first 48–72 hours)
Keep skin clean and hydrated; use gentle, fragrance-free products
Avoid makeup for 24 hours (or as advised)
Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming and intense workouts for 24–48 hours
Skip active skincare (retinoids, acids, vitamin C) for a few days
Wear SPF daily and avoid direct sun exposure
Results build over time. Many clients see best results with a course of treatments, spaced a few weeks apart.
